Nestled at the base of Mangatawa maunga in Tauranga Moana, Mangatawa Marae stands as a whakaruruhau for for whānau to connect, learn and uphold the values passed down through time.

As a living hub of community life, Mangatawa Marae supports a range of kaupapa – from educational wānanga and reo revitalisation to whānau events, hui,and celebrations. Our doors remain open to whānau near and far, and we continue to evolve with the needs of our people.

Through innovation and tradition, Mangatawa Marae is committed to uplifting our community by nurturing the next generation.

The name Mangatawa refers to the maunga behind the Marae. According to purakau, Mangatawa and its neighboring hills are the tohora Hikurangi, Mangatawa and Kopukairoa, who lay resting on the shore of te Tahuna o Rangataua.

Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi!

With your basket, and my basket, the iwi will thrive!

We are appealing to our whānau near and far to help us in our efforts
by making a koha.

To keep it simple, where possible we are asking for whānau to support the upkeep of our marae and to provide a space for our whānau & hapū to share and
enjoy.

You can make your koha one time or set up your AP weekly or monthly
to suit. Please deposit into the bank account below.
